Watch: Kagiso Rabada Cleans Up Chris Gayle After Being Spanked For Six In Previous Ball

Kagiso Rabada produced one of the best comebacks in IPL by dismissing Chris Gayle in the very next delivery after he was spanked for six by the Universe Boss. Punjab Kings are playing Delhi Capitals without their skipper KL Rahul who was diagnosed with acute appendicitis and hospitalised thereafter. Gayle’s wicket was the second for the Capitals inside the powerplay.

Bowling the second ball of the sixth over, Kagiso Rabada bowled a full toss which hit the stumps on the full much to the surprise of the Universe Boss. The ball before, Gayle dispatched Rabada for a six over square leg when the ball narrowly missed the Safari.

A full toss at 143.4kph by Kagiso Rabada, Chris Gayle didn’t see that coming. He was probably expecting a short one. Backed away to tap it through the off-side and completely got beaten on the outside edge. The ball makes a mess of the sticks! A distraught Gayle walks back. Wasn’t a happy sight for the batter. He scored 13 off 9 balls before he was castled by Rabada.

Punjab Kings made a forced change in the playing XI. They are led by Mayank Agarwal in the absence of KL Rahul. They have also handed a debut cap to Dawid Malan.

Delhi Capitals are placed third on the points table while Punjab Kings are placed sixth. Rahul is still leading the Orange Cap race with 331 runs in seven games at an average of 66.20 and a strike rate of 136.21.

“It’s sad and we are gonna miss him (KL) but it is what it is. We have to go out and play good cricket. We won the last game we played, so we are high on confidence. I can hope that it gets a little lower and slower as the game progresses. But it’s good to set target and then defend it. (On captaining) Really looking forward to the responsibility, we have spoken about going out there, enjoying ourselves, playing some fierce and aggressive cricket with smile on our faces” said new Punajb skipper Mayank Agarwal on KL Rahul’s absence.
