Team India is currently staying at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton ahead of their ICC World Test Championship Final clash against the second-placed team, New Zealand. Following the final, the Asian Giant will play a full-fledged bilateral series against England, including a five-match Test series starting August 4.
After landing in London, the team and their families had to undergo mandatory quarantine at the Ageas Bowl. Several players had posted pictures standing alongside the scenic view at the stadium. Although they’re quarantined, nothing can stop them from engaging in banter on social media.
One such instance was on display when Anushka Sharma, posted a picture on Instagram of her standing next to the balcony, with the stadium in the background. She captioned the picture:
“Don’t bring work home isn’t going to be applicable for Virat for some time. #QuarantineAtTheStadium.”
The conditions are as potent for us as New Zealand – Virat Kohli
The Indian skipper, who was last seen playing for RCB in the IPL, will have a big role to play in the WTC Final. Before boarding the flight to England, he attended a press conference in which he sounded confident about India’s chances in the final.
“The conditions are as potent for us as New Zealand. We are going to board the flight thinking that we’re on equal terms and whichever team performs well session-by-session, hour-by-hour, is going to win that championship,” Virat Kohli said.
He was also of the opinion that his mindset hadn’t changed from the previous tours of England and he’s still hungry for runs. Virat Kohli has toured England earlier in 2014 and 2018 and has improved a lot since then.
“I don’t think the mindset has changed at all. Mindset was always to go out there and perform. I only see the previous tours as evolution of my position in the team,” he concluded.
