Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj dismissed team-mate Washington Sundar with a snorter during their three-day practice match. Sundar is playing for County Select XI against India in order to attain match practice of some sort. Avesh Khan is also part of the County side but had injured his finger on Day 1.
Following their overnight score of 306/9, India were able to add only five runs to the total. Jasprit Bumrah and Siraj walked out but the former was knocked over early on in the day. County began their innings watchfully before the Indian bowlers started getting the breakthroughs.
After the fall of the second wicket, Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar was promoted to No.4. He played all of six balls before getting a peach of a delivery from Siraj. The Hyderabadi bowled a short delivery which rose sharply to rap Sundar on his gloves. Rohit Sharma standing at second slip gobbled up the catch quite easily.

Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Umesh Yadav pick a wicket each before lunch
After putting a decent total on the board, Indian bowlers reaped rewards for consistent bowling. They kept the line around the off-stump and kept nagging at the batsmen. Umesh Yadav drew first blood when he put Jake Libby’s stumps to bed with an in-angling delivery.
The others followed suit soon. Jasprit Bumrah found Rob Yates’ edge which was taken by KL Rahul behind the stumps. Soon after, Washington Sundar’s innings was nipped in the bud by Mohammad Siraj and India were on top of the County Side at Lunch. Following the latest updates, opener Haseeb Hameed and Will Rhodes were at the crease.
Sundar has had a lackluster practice game so far. He wasn’t brought on to bowl in the first innings and faced just seven deliveries while batting. It will be interesting to see whether he gets to bowl in the second innings.
