DRS Drama Involving Suryakumar Yadav Leaves Twitter in Splits

During the third ODI between India and Sri Lanka, a DRS review taken by Suryakumar Yadav resulted in a comedy of errors that left Twitter users reeling. The batsman was initially given out by Kumar Dharmasena but was reversed after a long review.

Team India won the toss in the final ODI and chose to bat first. They were off to a brisk start before Shikhar Dhawan edged one to the keeper in the third over. A partnership followed between debutant Sanju Samson and Prithvi Shaw which saw India cross the 100-run mark. While being just one run short of his fifty, Shaw was adjudged LBW and had to walk back.

Samson followed suit soon and left India in a spot of bother at 118/3. In-form batsman Suryakumar Yadav walked out and looked at his fluent best once again. He scored at a quick rate before a hilarious incident occurred. Suryakumar tried to sweep a full delivery but missed. Umpire Kumar Dharmasena gave him LBW, which was reviewed by the Mumbaikar.

The third-umpire moved on to ball-tracking after concluding that there was no inside edge. There was an extremely long delay with it, however, for reasons unknown. After a while, ball-tracking came in and the impact was determined to be outside off (and 2.5m ahead of the stumps). The third umpire, however, went on to show the stumps hitting which sparked wild celebrations in the Sri Lankan camp.

He then changed his mind and decided that it was not out since there was a green light during the review. Dharmasena was then asked to change his decision which triggered hilarious reactions on social media. Twitter had a field day with Suryakumar Yadav’s DRS call.
