England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) The Hundred kickstarted last month in London. The frenzy 100-ball tournament has witnessed some rare and interesting moments on the field. In one such incident, the wicket-keeper was seen standing far away from the stumps while keeping for a spinner.
During the encounter between Trent Rockets and Welsh Fire, Trent Rockets’ wicket-keeper Tom Moores was standing far off the stumps as mystery spinner Rashid Khan came in to bowl. While it isn’t the first instance in world cricket, it is rare. The incident caught the attention of the fans and they were left amazed.

A fan was quick to point out another match where a similar incident took place. It happened during India’s famous test win at Lords in 2014. Whilst, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took strides to bowl to Moeen Ali, India’s then skipper and wicket-keeper MS Dhoni stood far back from the stumps.

In an interaction with Espncricinfo last month, Rashid spoke about The Hundred format. He said, “In this format, I think the more you look to put the pressure on the batsman, that’s the time they give you the wicket, rather than trying to attack to get his wicket. As long as you’re putting the pressure on by bowling the dot balls, that gives you the wickets as well.”
Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan is having a great run playing for the Trent Rockets in The Hundred. He is the third-highest wicket-taker in the tournament so far. The leggie has picked up eight wickets in five innings conceding 127 runs at an average of 15.87 and an economy rate of 7.62. His best figures in the tournament, 3/26 came against the Birmingham Phoenix. Rashid dismissed the likes of Finn Allen, Will Smeedand, and Miles Hammond.
