Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has suggested two changes for England irrespective of the result of the first Test in Nottingham. India need 157 runs to win the Test match on the final chasing a target of 209. India at stumps on day 4 reached 52/1 with Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara unbeaten on 12 each. KL Rahul after scoring 84 in the first innings scored a quick 26 before he was dismissed.

Speaking to BBC’s Test Match Special, Vaughan suggested two batsmen England should drop in the second Test at Lord’s from August 12.

Michael Vaughan Suggests Two Changes For Lord’s Test

‘Zak Crawley could be a high-class Test match player but he’s not got enough runs,’ Vaughan said. ‘I wouldn’t play Crawley at Lord’s but he could well go to Australia.

‘I would bring Haseeb Hameed in for Zak Crawley. I’d also bring Dawid Malan in but he’s clearly not in England’s Test plans.

‘Dan Lawrence has the ability to hit some high-quality shots but you certainly wouldn’t mind bowling to him early on in his innings with that technique.’

Michael Vaughan further lauded England skipper Joe Root for his 21st Test ton. He said that Root held England’s innings together and the rest of the batters batted well around him to help England score above 300 in the second innings.

“That hundred from Joe Root – we’ve seen him play plenty of magnificent innings but that was just pure. ‘He would never admit it but he does carry this batting line-up. And it means he’s not always at his smiley, chirpy best. But he was back there today and it’s exactly what you want to see.”

Meanwhile, Indian skipper Virat Kohli was guilty of using his reviews quickly on day 4. The England faans trolled him for his mistakes with the DRS. It has not been a great Test match for Kohli personally. he scored a first-ball duck with the bat and the onus is on him to score crucial runs for India in the second.
