ENG vs IND 2021: “Rishabh Pant Reminds Me Of Adam Gilchrist” – David Llyod

India’s wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant is often compared to former Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist. The two share a lot of similarities in their batting approach. Former England cricketer David Llyod has also expressed the same thoughts.

In a column for the Daily Mail, David Llyod wrote that Rishabh Pant reminds him of Adam Gilchrist. He added that the Indian left-hander should not change his batting approach of taking the attack to the opposition bowlers.

“England had taken two early wickets when Rishabh Pant came to the crease. DK asked me: ‘As a former coach would you tell him to rein it in?’ No, I wouldn’t. It’s his role to take the attack to the opposition whatever the situation. He reminds me of Adam Gilchrist. There’s no dropping anchor. Wrest the initiative back. And quickly,” Lloyd wrote.

In the ongoing Test match against England, Rishabh Pant scored a quick-fire 58-ball 37, but could not convert his score into a big one. He put on a crucial 49-run stand for the sixth wicket along with Ravindra Jadeja.

Joe Root puts England in the driver’s seat

Mohammed Siraj dismissed the well-set Jonny Bairstow on 57 to end the 120-run stand for the fourth wicket. Siraj banged in a short pitch delivery into Jonny Bairstow’s body, who tried to take in on but gloved it straight to the wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant.

This was Siraj’s third wicket in the innings so far. He dismissed the opener Dominic Sibley and Haseeb Hameed on consecutive deliveries in the fifteen over of the innings. Rory Burns fell one short of his fifty as he was adjudged lbw of Mohammad Shami.

Meanwhile, England’s skipper Joe Root scored his twenty-second hundred in Test cricket. At the time of writing, England are trailing by 35 runs with Root and Moeen Ali in the middle.
