Irish batsman Ed Joyce announced his retirement from all formats of the game with immediate effect. The debut test for Ireland against Pakistan remains as his last game for the side. He represented England and Ireland in 78 ODI “s and 18 T20I”s. He will now be back the squad as a batting coach and will take care of the leadership development in Irish performance system.
Joyce is one among the ten players to represent two nations. He switched to Ireland in the 2007 and has now become the fifth highest run scorer in ODI”s amassing 2151 runs.
Speaking to the media, the 39-year-old said: “I feel now is the right time to stop playing and get started on a new chapter.”
He scored a handy 43 in Ireland”s debut test against Pakistan in the second innings that helped to give a great fight on the last day of the test. On his one and only test, he mentioned” “The recent Test match against Pakistan was such an incredible few days and was the perfect game for me to say was my last in professional cricket.”

Ed Joyce also thanked the Irish cricket board for their continued support throughout his career and said that he is really looking forward to taking up the role of a coach.
Joyce represented Sussex and Middlesex in the county arena. He played for England in the 2007 and Ireland in the 2011 World cup which defeated England chasing a target of 300+.
