Former Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ehsan Mani has expressed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is being run by the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) government. He stated that control of the board lies with the BJP.
In a conversation with Cricket Pakistan, Ehsan Mani spoke on various topics including the Pakistan Super League, the current state of things in Pakistan cricket, and the ties with the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The former chairman was asked about India not playing bilateral tournaments against Pakistan and the relation between the Indian and the Pakistan board during his tenure.
Ehsan Mani expressed that the BCCI is currently managed by the BJP government. He stated that the top officials are family members or relatives of the ministers in the BJP government. The BCCI secretary, Jay Shah, is the son of the Minister of Home Affairs, Amit Shah. Meanwhile, the treasurer, Arun Dhumal is the brother of Anurag Thakur, who is the current Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs.
“The BCCI is run by the BJP. Although BCCI have Sourav Ganguly but has anyone ever wondered who their secretary of the board is? Jay Shah, who is the son of Amit Shah. The BCCI treasurer, Arun Dhumal is the brother of BJP Minister, Anurag Thakur. The real control lies with them and BJP dictates BCCI. This is why I did not pursue patching ties with them,” said Ehsan Mani.

The former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, Ehsan Mani also revealed that during his tenure, he maintained that if India wants to play with Pakistan, they will approach the board.
“Why should I run behind India, if they want to play, they will come and play. But I never said no, I always said that we don’t have to run behind India. When they are ready, we will be ready,” stated Ehsan Mani.
The last time that Pakistan and India played in a bilateral series against each other was in 2012-13. Since then, the tense diplomatic relations between both nations have forced the bilateral tournaments to a halt.
