Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja was all praise for Delhi Capitals  (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant. He also expressed that Ricky Ponting backed the wicket-keeper batter ahead of Shreyas Iyer for the captaincy post of the Delhi franchise.
Under the leadership of Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals have won six out of their twelve matches in this IPL season. They are placed fifth on the points table with twelve points. The capitals are in a tough race to qualify for the playoffs.
In a chat on Cricbuzz, Ajay Jadeja lauded the Rishabh Pant’s decision-making skills in the the 15th edition of the cash-rich league. The cricket expert said:
Rishabh Pant’s decisions have been good and he is an aggressive player. It seemed like he was playing a senior role very early in his career. The youth factor must stay intact. It was amazing to see him play this way today. Nobody expects him to go out there and play like the rest of the batters.
The former India cricketer also stated that Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting thought Pant to be a better captaincy option ahead of Shreyas Iyer, and hence backed the left-hander.
“At times, when someone is made captain, you can feel that someone’s guiding them. But with Pant, it’s clear that he is the one calling the shots. Ricky Ponting backed Rishabh Pant ahead of ex-captain Shreyas Iyer. He saw both of them and selected Pant to lead the side as he thought him to be the better option out of the two,” said Ajay Jadeja.

Ajay Jadeja further opined that the Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant is the one who is running the team. He added that Pant knows how wants to lead the team. Jadeja also expressed that Delhi knew they have a better chance of winning if they chase against the Rajasthan Royals.
The Delhi Capitals chased down 161 runs comfortably with eight wickets in hand in the nineteenth over of the innings. Ajay Jadeja said,
“Rishabh Pant knows how he wants to run this team and knew that they have a better chance of winning if they chase. The job of the head coach is to support the captain’s thinking.”
