Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag led wishes from the cricketing fraternity for Neeraj Chopra, who continues to make India proud with his heroics at the International level. Chopra has made a fantastic debut at the 2022 World Athletics Championships. He scripted history by winning silver at the World Athletics for India on Sunday in Eugene, Oregon.
Neeraj Chopra finished second behind Grenada’s Anderson Peters to settle for a silver medal. His best throw of 88.13m in the men’s javelin throw finals came in his fourth attempt. He became the first man to win a medal for India at the World Athletics Championships and only the second Indian overall after veteran long jumper Anju Bobby George’s Bronze medal in 2003.

Neeraj secured a distance of 88.39m in his first attempt to breach the automatic qualification mark of 83.50m to storm into his maiden finals at the ongoing 2022 World Athletics Championships (WAC). He did not start well in the finals as his first throw was declared foul. However, he cleared 82.39m in his second and 86.37m in his third attempt. It was his fourth attempt of 88.13m, which ensured a medal for the Indian athlete.
Let’s take at how the cricketing fraternity reacted to Neeraj’s silver medal at the 2022 WAC:
In his typical style, former India cricketer Virender Sehwag lauded Neeraj Chopra’s achievement. He took to Twitter to praise the Indian athlete and congratulate him. Sehwag wrote,
“Years from now there is going to be a generation of youngsters for whom “Kya Fenkta Hai” is going to be a massive compliment, thanks to this champion #NeerajChopra. Once again making India proud with a Silver at the World Athletics Championship.”
