Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag has picked India’s top three for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. However, he has left out veteran India batter Virat Kohli, who is the designated number three for India in the limited-overs format.ย The Indian team had a disappointing outing in the previous edition of the tournament. They failed to reach the knock-outs of the tournament.
This year, the Indian team will be determined to put up a good show at the T20 World Cup. The top three in the batting order will play a crucial role in setting the momentum for the batting unit. Former cricketer Virender Sehwag has picked Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and KL Rahul as India’s top three for the tournament.
Notably, Virat Kohli did not find a place in Sehwag’s top three. The veteran cricketer hasn’t been in the best of forms off late. Virender Sehwag expressed that Ishan Kishan’s presence will give India the option of a right-left batting combination at the top. The young wicket-keeper batter has been in good form recently. In the T20I series against South Africa at home, he scored 206 runs at a strike rate of 150.
“India has options aplenty when it comes to hard hitters in T20s. However, I would personally vouch for Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and KL Rahul as the top three batters for the World Cup in Australia. The right-hand and left-hand combination of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan, or for that matter, Ishan and KL Rahul could be quite interesting for the World T20,” Sehwag said on Sony Network.

Umran Malik should definitely be part of India’s plan: Virender Sehwag
Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag also feels that pacer Umran Malik should be a part of India’s plan for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. He expressed that the youngster has impressed him thoroughly. Sehwag believes Umran can bowl alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami in the tournament. Sehwag said,
โIf there is one pacer who has thoroughly impressed me, of late, it is none other than Umran Malik. He should definitely be part of Indiaโs plans as one of the key bowlers alongside the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami.”
The ICC T20 World Cup 2022 will take place later this year in Australia. The Indian team will begin their campaign against Pakistan on October 23 in Melbourne.
