IPL 2020: I Didn’t Feel Sunrisers Hyderabad Didn’t Had The Potential – Aakash Chopra

The Sunrisers Hyderabad has had a shocking turnaround of events in this year’s IPL. After not looking like the best of the best sides in the early stages of the tournament they have made a sensational comeback hereafter as they now face Delhi Capitals in the second qualifier after knocking out Royal Challengers Bangalore from another IPL.

After losing key players in the beginning of the season in the form of Mitchell Marsh and Bhuvaneshvar Kumar it looked as if Sunrisers Hyderabad would go nowhere in this tournament. In the latter stages of the tournament, we also witnessed their all-rounder Vijay Shankar getting sidelined due to an injury which made things worse for them as Vijay Shankar was consistently contributing with the ball in every match.

I didn’t feel that the Sunrisers Hyderabad had the potential – Aakash Chopra

Former India opening batsman and Commentator Aakash Chopra also did feel like Sunrisers lacked the true potential to succeed in this tournament after losing out on key players in the side. He felt they were over dependant on Bairstow, Warner and Pandey whereas in the bowling department they only had Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan.

“To be very honest, I didn’t feel that the Sunrisers Hyderabad had the potential. I had felt that it was an okay team, that they are dependent on the top two or three in the batting and in the bowling they had Rashid and Bhuvi but no one else.” Aakash Chopra said on his official YouTube channel.

He further added how he thought they might just feel the absence of Wriddhiman Saha who was out with an injury but in his absence, the others capitalised on the opportunity which was evident in their bowling performance. He credited Holder and Nadeem for their outstanding spell as well as Rashid Khan who was just unplayable last night.

“It felt like the Sunrisers Hyderabad will get stuck in the absence of Saha but that was not the case. They were clinical, they work with such precision. They were outstanding in their bowling.”

“Holder took the early wickets with the bounce he was getting. Shahbaz Nadeem bowled very well and no one is able to hit Rashid Khan. They have been phenomenal.” he said.
