Aakash Chopra Names One Franchise Who Can Pick Mitchell Starc

The bell for IPL 2020 has already rung with franchises announcing the list of retained players before heading out for the auctions. As we look forward, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has named one franchise, who can go big for Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc if he is available.

Incidentally, Mitchell Starc is expected to set the auction floor on fire as he is set to play for the first time since 2015. The left-arm fast bowler made his debut in 2014 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. In 2018, he was picked to play for Dinesh Karthik’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

However, he missed out due to an injury. Mitchell Starc opted out of the 2020 IPL in order to prepare for the T20 World Cup in Australia which had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Aakash Chopra believes Royal Challengers Bangalore can once again bid for the Aussie fast bowler to strengthen their pace attack.

“RCB will run after Mitchell Starc if he is available. They have money, so they can run after him. They can go to 15-19 crores also if they wish to do so,” said Chopra on his YouTube channel.

Virat Kohli & Co will look to strengthen their bowling attack which has hurt them the most in the last couple of years.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have a total of eleven slots to fill out of which 3 are overseas slots. They currently have a total of five overseas players out of which Aakash Chopra feels only AB de Villiers is a sure starter. They have recently traded Daniel Sams and Harshal Patel from Delhi Capitals for IPL 2021.

“RCB have 11 total slots vacant, out of which three are overseas slots. So you feel that they have to shop whole-heartedly because they don’t have the overseas options in the playing XI ready. They have AB de Villiers, Joshua Phillipe, Zampa, Kane Richardson, and Daniel Sams. But are four out of these five going to play, I doubt it,” said Chopra in a video on his YouTube channel.
