Aakash Chopra Questions Selection Committee For Exclusion Of Key Players For West Indies Series

The decision to leave Suryakumar Yadav out of the Test squad for India’s tour of the West Indies has Aakash Chopra baffled.

The Indian team for the two Test matches and three One-Day Internationals against the West Indies was unveiled by the selectors on Friday, June 23. Despite being selected for the ODI team, Suryakumar was not included for the longest format.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Chopra spoke about some of the selections and omissions from both squads. He stated: “In response to Suryakumar being left off the Test team despite being one of the reserves for the WTC championship.”

Since Suryakumar Yadav was a part of the team for the WTC final but isn’t on the West Indies Test squad, you might be baffled as to why they did that. He had only played one Test prior to this, so why was he selected for the WTC final team?.

The former Indian opener opined that Mohammad Shami might have received rest in both formats while pointing out that Jaydev Unadkat was chosen over Arshdeep Singh as the left-arm seamer in both squads:
Each team includes Shardul Thakur. Jaydev Unadkat plays for both of the teams, while Arshdeep Singh is not a part of either.

Mohammad Shami is also not there. It’s possible he had a restful night’s sleep. ” Chopra claims that the Indian selectors were not overwhelmed with options for seam bowlers because some of the pacers were unavailable due to fitness.

Mukesh Kumar being a member of both teams is intriguing. Umran Malik is a part of the ODI squad, but not the Test squad. While Navdeep Saini was kept in the Test squad, he was dropped from the ODI squad. I believe that the remaining fast-bowling competitors are not physically ready.

Umesh Yadav, who was a member of India’s playing XI for the WTC championship game, was also left off the test team. According to all communications, the Vidarbha pacer has not been dropped or given a break.

According to Aakash Chopra, not all four of India’s ODI spinners will be participating.

India may not be able to give each of the four spinners they chose for the ODI squad a chance, according to Aakash Chopra.

The ODI team has a wide range of spin options. I have four spin options right now: Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja. Spinners are now used a little more frequently in the West Indies, but none of them will take part.

It will be intriguing to see how Rohit Sharma chooses to use both Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja given their similar skill sets. Although Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav make appealing attacking options, their inclusion in the same lineup may be detrimental to the batting order’s depth.
