After injuring his knee in the fifth T20I against West Indies, Finch was ruled out of the entire series and also the following Bangladesh tour. Alex Carey led the Australian team in his absence in the one-dayers against West Indies, while Matthew Wade led them in the T20Is against Bangladesh. Australia managed to draw the ODI series against West Indies but failed disastrously against Bangladesh. They lost the five-match T20I series 4-1.

Aaron Finch likely to stay away from the game for 10 weeks

Aaron Finch returned back home from the Caribbean and underwent surgery after completing the mandatory two-week quarantine. Cricket Australia released a statement saying that Finch had a successful operation on Thursday. He will take 8-10 weeks to recover from the injury.

“His recovery is expected to take 8-10 weeks meaning he should be available for the opening games of the World Cup in mid-October,” the statement said as quoted by the Espncricinfo.
