The cricketing calendar has been severely affected by the outbreak of the pandemic coronavirus. The entire world has been under lockdown to curb the spread of the deadly virus which has taken lives of more 24000 people across the globe.

Many series have been called off while the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League was postponed until April 15 which was slated to commence from March 29. With no signs of improvement, it is highly unlikely that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will manage to host the global event.

Amid these circumstances, an Australian news publication released the list of what could be the country’s team for the 2023 ICC World Cup, which has left current Aussie ODI skipper Aaron Finch in complete shock. Fox Sports Australia, on Friday, released the probable list of XI players which they feel will represent the nation at the showpiece event in India in three years time.

There was a surprise omission in the list as they left out Finch from the playing XI. Instead, they picked Josh Philippe alongside David Warner to open the innings. Otherwise, the team looks quite obvious with Steve Smith at the helm of things and Alex Carey as the wicket-keeper.

Aaron Finch, after seeing the list, reacted in absolute astonishment as he couldn’t find his name in the team while Smith was named the captain.
