Ajinkya Rahane is a proud captain after his side against all odds defeated the mighty Australians at MCG. Rahane was under tremendous pressure before the Test as he had been struggling to score runs consistently in Test cricket. On top of that, he was involved in a run-out that saw Virat Kohli dismissed on 74 and the first Test completely changed on its head.

The calm Rahane needed to raise his own game and lift the confidence of his team after an embarrassing loss at Adelaide. The seasoned cricketer did just that as he silenced his critics by scoring an outstanding match-winning century. When the match was hanging in the balance, Rahane notched up his 12th Test century and helped his side get a substantial lead.

When it comes to his captaincy while fielding, Rahane again showed his quality as he was spot on with his bowling changes. The 32-year-old had a plan in mind for every Aussie batsmen which reflected in the kind of attacking fields he set for each one of them. As a result team, India under Rahane won the second Test and levelled the series 1-1.

Meanwhile, after winning a historic Test match, Rahane took to his official Twitter account and acknowledged all the Indian supporters. The stand-in captain of India wrote that the biggest reward for him and his side has been to bring a smile on the faces on all the fans back home. Rahane wants team India supporters to continue to back the team so that they again perform to the best of their abilities in the last 2 Test matches.

Furthermore, Rahane for his outstanding batting and leadership received the player of the match award. The next assignment of team India will be the third Test at Sydney that will begin from January 7.
