Ambati Rayudu, a batter for the Chennai Super Kings, has declared his retirement from the Indian Premier League. The IPL Final between CSK and the reigning champion Gujarat Titans in 2023, which will feature the 37-year-old, will be his final match.

The CSK batsman announced his decision to retire on Twitter after the IPL 2023 Final, saying he had a great time playing in this fantastic competition and that there would be no more U-turns this time.

204 games, 14 seasons, 11 playoff games, 8 finals, 5 trophies, 2 great teams, MI and CSK. Hopefully sixth tonight. The journey has been lengthy. I’ve made up my mind that the IPL final tonight will be my last contest. I have had a great time competing in this wonderful tournament. I appreciate your cooperation. No U-turn,” Rayudu tweeted.

Rayudu began his IPL career in 2010 with the Mumbai Indians, and in 2013 he won his first championship. Before moving to CSK in 2018, where he won the championship in his first season with the team, he won two more championships in 2015 and 2017. The 37-year-old went on to win another championship in 2021 with CSK.

In 203 IPL games, Rayudu has scored 4,329 runs at an average of 28 points per run while striking out at an average of 127 points per run. In his illustrious IPL career, he has hit 22 fifties and one century.

Rayudu has contributed 139 runs in 15 games this season with a strike rate of 132.38. In 2018, he had his best season in the league, scoring 602 runs in 16 matches at an average of 43, striking out at 149.75, and leading CSK to the IPL title in his first year with the team.

When CSK plays GT in the IPL 2023 championship game, Rayudu will play his final match of the season. Rayudu has a chance to win his sixth IPL championship, and CSK wants to win their fifth to tie Mumbai Indians for the most titles won.
