The veteran batsman Ambati Rayudu has been in the headlines for the most part of 2019. The selectors shockingly snubbed the Chennai Super Kings batsman from the ICC World Cup 2019 squad. Instead, the MSK Prasad-led panel favoured all-rounder Vijay Shankar for his three-dimensional contribution.

Rayudu was the first-choice as India’s No.4 leading to the mega event. The Men in Blues had been struggling with the middle-order for quite a few years. They had tried a lot of options before settling for Ambati Rayudu. He has been relatively consistent with the bat; however, the selectors dropped him shockingly.

A lot has happened since then. Rayudu announced his retirement in the aftermath of the incident but later overturned the decision stating that it was taken emotionally. Meanwhile, during a recent chat on Chennai Super Kings’ Instagram feed, the Hyderabad batsman backed another veteran batsman and Chennai Super Kings teammate to make an international comeback.

“He has a lot of cricket left in him..I am putting a bet on it that he would make a comeback for India,” Rayudu said talking about Raina.

Meanwhile, Suresh Raina might not have played for India since 2018 but has been a key member in the CSK batting line-up in IPL. He was a part of India’s World Cup-winning squad in 2011 where he produced some crucial performances with the bat.

The cricketer from Uttar Pradesh became a vital cog in India’s middle-order under MS Dhoni’s captaincy and won India several matches with his heroics. He last played for India in the limited-overs series in England where he struggled with the bat and was subsequently dropped from the team.
