Andre Rusell picked up his maiden fifer for Kolkata Knight Riders as the side plays Mumbai Indians in their second game of IPL 2021. Coming into bowl with the final two overs of the last three, Russel picked up five for 15. Mumbai reached 152 with Russell picking up the likes of Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya among his five wickets. With six wickets from just two games, he is also the current Purple Cap holder in the tournament.
Andre Russell’s heroics were praised hugely on Twitter. KKR fans and cricket experts hailed the way Russell changed his pace and used the angles properly. Meanwhile, Russel failed with the bat in the first game however picked up a wicket in the first game.

In their last 11 encounters, Mumbai Indians has won 10 times so they have the upper hand when it comes to the history between the teams. However, in this game, they have been restricted to 152 by some good bowling by the KKR bowlers.
Pat Cummins and Shakib Al Hasan picked up two wickets each. Cummins dismissed Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Rohit and Suryakumar added 76 with Rohit before Shakib broke the stand.
Andre Russell scored just 117 runs for KKR in IPL 2020. The season before he scored 510 runs and hit 52 sixes in the season, the most by any player in a single season of the IPL.
