Andre Russell Responds After Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Disappointing’ Tweet

Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Andre Russell has finally responded to co-owner Shah Rukh Khan’s tweet after Kolkata’s humiliating defeat against Mumbai Indians on April 13 (Tuesday). The defending champions bounced back brilliantly as Kolkata Knight failed to chase down 31 runs off 30 deliveries falling short by 10 runs thanks to Rohit Sharma marshaling his troops to perfection.

Despite being handed a comfortable start by Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill while chasing a mediocre target of 153 runs, KKR fumbled dramatically and lost out the contest by 10 runs. After what was an opening partnership of 72 runs between Gill and Rana, no Kolkata Knight Riders batsman managed to reach the double-digit figure on a Chennai surface which assisted spin. Rohit Sharma used his bowlers to perfection to snatch a win from the jaws of defeat.

As the fans took to microblogging site Twitter to vent their frustration, Shah Rukh Khan also called the defeat disappointing as he offered his apologies to fans.

“Disappointing performance. to say the least @KKRiders apologies to all the fans!”, Shah Rukh Khan tweeted.

We are going to learn from it – Andre Russell

Responding to the same, all-rounder Andre Russell, whose efforts with the ball went in vain, backed Shah Rukh Khan’s feelings after the defeat. Despite the loss, the Jamaican sounded confident of his team’s performance and vowed to make a comeback going forward.

“Yeah, I support that Tweet but at the end of the day the game of cricket… you are not sure until it’s over. I think we are still confident, we still played some good cricket and I am proud of the boys. You know, we are definitely disappointed but it’s not the end of the world, it’s only the second game and we are going to learn from it,” Andre Russell said in the post-match press conference.

With two points from two matches, Kolkata Knight Riders next face Royal Challengers Bangalore on Apri 18 (Sunday) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
