The Argentina Women’s Cricket Team shattered several records in the first T20I match against Chile on 14 October 2023. Thanks to a superb opening partnership between Lucia Taylor and Albertina Galan, Argentina put on 350 runs laying a strong foundation for a massive total. Taylor made 169 and Galan 145 helped them post the highest total of 427 for 1 in 20 overs. Argentina then bundled out Chila for 63 and registered a thumping 364-run victory.

This match will be known as which is the highest total by any team across men and women in the history of T20I cricket. Argentina also went past Bahrain’s total of 318 for 1 against Saudi Arabia in March 2022. Uganda also posted 314 for 1 against Mali in June 2019.

Nepal posted the highest-ever total in men’s T20I cricket during the Asian Games encounter against Mongolia last month. They went past Afghanistan’s total of 278 for 3 against Ireland which they achieved in June 2019.

During this historic score by Argentina women against Chile in the T20I format, there were several records that were broken.

Lucia Taylor scored the highest ever induvial total in women’s T20I format with 169. Taylor and Galan put on first ever triple century partnership in T20I cricket 350.

Lucia scored the quickest-ever individual century in terms of team overs which was done by Taylor in 10.2 overs. Florencia Martinez conceded the most number of runs in an over giving away 52. Constanza Oyrace gave the most number of runs in the T20I format giving 92 from her 4 overs.

Chile conceded the most number of no-balls in an inning which includes 64 and the most number of extras in an inning of 73. It was a record-breaking performance by Argentina outplaying Chile in all departments putting pressure on Chile bowlers right from the word go.

Jessica Miranda was the only wicket-taker for Chile. She was the top scorer for Chile with 27 runs. Argentina had a dominating performance and would be looking to do the same when they face off each other in the 2nd match of the series on Sunday.
