The Indian Cricket Team registered a thumping 7-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan in a one-sided contest played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 14th October 2023. It was an all-round effort from the Indian team on the field as the fielding coach gave the best fielder for the encounter after the match in the dressing room.

T Dilip mentioned the performance of Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj as fielders for match against Pakistan. He also gave praise to other Indian players before naming KL Rahul as the best fielder. Shardul Thakur gave the best fielder medal to KL Rahul and there was appreciation from Indian teammates.

KL Rahul did a superb job by taking the catch of Imam UL Haq. He was superb with his wicketkeeping skills on a pitch that had nothing for bowlers. It was a superb bowling effort by Indian bowlers as they skittled out Pakistan for 191 in 42.5 overs. All the other bowlers including Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja grabbed 2 wickets each while Shardul Thakur did not pick any wicket in the match.

From 151 for 2, Siraj got the breakthrough dismissing Pakistan captain Babar Azam which led to the collapse. Kuldeep Yadav grabbed the wickets of Saud Shakeel and Iftikhar Ahmed in the same over. Bumrah then dismissed Rizwan with a slower delivery and Shahbad Khan with a beauty to leave Pakistan in big trouble. Ravindra Jadeja showed his class by grabbing the wickets of Hasan Ali and Haris Rauf.

Rohit Sharma looked in fine form

Rohit Sharma had a great outing in the match against Pakistan. Chasing 192 runs to win, Rohit put enough pressure on the pace bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Hasan Ali to keep the momentum going for India. The Indian captain hammered the bowlers with some lusty blows against all bowlers.

Shubman Gill fell cheaply with an easy catch to backward point. Shreyas Iyer also looked impressive with attacking shots completing his fifty and winning the match for Team India. Indian team won the match by 7 wickets with 117 balls to spare. With this win, India moved top of the points table with a better net run rate.
