Ashes 2023: Nathan Lyon Gives A Big Statement Ahead Of His 100th Test

Tom Carter, the head of athletic performance for Australia’s women’s rugby sevens and a former New South Wales Waratahs rugby representative, was given credit by Lyon for his ability to consistently deliver over the past ten years by his network of family and friends.

Any athlete who wants to be successful over the long haul needs to surround themselves with excellent people; I’m not just referring to the Australian cricket team. With their love, support, and care, I think my family has been absolutely wonderful.

The 35-year-old continued: “Then there is Tom Carter, who is undoubtedly one of my closest friends and who I frequently collaborate with on behind-the-scenes projects. He is a fitness trainer and a psychologist, so we probably work out five days a week when we are at home. I can vent to him without fear of being judged.”

We have really great conversations, so having those great people around you is probably important. I dare say that many athletes would feel the same about being able to do it for a very long time.

Australia’s 1-0 lead in the Ashes 2023 was largely due to the off-spinner. At Edgbaston, he contributed with an unbeaten 16 and an addition of 55* with captain Pat Cummins (44*), helping Australia chase down 281 with two wickets remaining. He also claimed four wickets in both innings.
