Chennai Super Kings will be one of the franchises to watch out for in the IPL 2021 auction scheduled to take place later today in Chennai. As we head forward, Ashish Nehra has picked Kedar Jadhav as one player Chennai Super Kings might go for among the ones whom they released last month.

Incidentally, CSK released Kedar along with a couple of other players including Harbhajan Singh. The 35-year-old cricketer had a horrific run with Chennai in the UAE and later had to warm the benches. The pocket-sized dynamo only managed 62 runs from eight outings with the highest score of 26 at a strike rate of 93.93. As a result, his exclusion didn’t come as a surprise.

Incidentally, Kedar Jadhav was roped in by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the 2018 IPL for a whopping sum of ₹7.8 crores. He played only the opening match scoring 24 runs before being ruled out of the entire tournament owing to a hamstring injury. In the next season, Jadhav managed to score 162 runs before missing the playoffs. The all-rounder was available for the whole 2020 edition but had to be benched for his poor performances.

Despite releasing him, former cricketer Ashish Nehra believes Chennai Super Kings might go for Kedar Jadhav again but at a cheaper rate. Other than Kedar, Nehra doesn’t see Chennai bidding for any other released players.

“It is difficult but I see Kedar Jadhav as the only player they could go for. If they can get him at a lesser price as I think he was around 8 crore or so. Those things are very important. Other than that, I don’t think they will go for any of the other players they have left,” said the former CSK player.

Adding further, Ashish Nehra feels Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan or England’s Moeen Ali will be ideal to replace Shane Watson, who retired from all forms of cricket after IPL 2020. Both Shakib and Moeen have been in decent form and will look for a team in the auction.

“Shakib Al Hasan and Moeen Ali are the best options I see for this team. MS Dhoni likes those type of players as both of them bowl and bat. Whether they play their matches in Chennai or in the UAE, wherever it is, both these players have experience of the IPL,” added Ashish Nehra.
