The overall salary of the Indian Premier League is set to cross 6000 crore mark in the upcoming IPL 2021 auction in Chennai on February 18. It will be broadcasted live on Star Sports network in India from 3 pm and on the Hotstar app for live streaming. As many as 292 players will go under the hammer as the franchisees will battle it out amongst themselves to get the best player as per their team requirements. Kings XI Punjab will enter into the auction with a maximum purse of Rs 53.20 crore.

10 players have the maximum bracket of 2 crores as the base price. Those players are namely Harbhajan Singh and Kedar Jadhav are the two Indian players in the list. Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy and Mark Wood are the overseas recruits in the list.

Meanwhile, as per a report in InsideSport, season 14 of the league will see the expenses breach the Rs. 6,000 crore mark. The league has seen a total expenditure of Rs. 59,990,545,046 (5,999 Cr) already spend on salaries in the past 13 seasons.

61 Spots To Be Filled in IPL 2021 Auction

As many as 61 players will be filled in the IPL 2021 auction with Royal Challengers Bangalore need to fill 13 spots to complete their team. 

Meanwhile, a total of INR 196.6 crore can be spent on new signings. Indian players have drawn 56.7% of salaries, having earned approximately 339 crores from the 8 franchises as a whole. In comparison, the overseas players have drawn approximately 259 crores from the 8 franchises cumulatively.

MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli are the leading players who have earned the maximum salary over the years in the IPL. Meanwhile, among the overseas players. AB de Villiers is the only non-Indian player to have earned more than Rs. 100 crore from the T20 league. 

Kings XI Punjab and Royal challengers Bangaloreare the two franchisees who will the busiest in the upcoming auction with maximum spots to fill. The auction starts at 3 pm on Thursday.
