Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin expressed his liking to return to the Indian side in limited-overs. Known for his variations, he has established himself as one of the juggernauts in the longest format of the game.
Ashwin hasn”t been a part of ODI and T20I assignments since 2017. Though he has been one of the finest assets in Tests, the selectors always overlooked him for other formats. In his absence, Chahal and Kuldeep were given responsibilities to create the havoc.
“Whatever I achieved I never expected when I started playing. I enjoy playing day in, day out. But I felt somewhere in my career, because of the white ball snub and injuries, I had lost the joy of playing the game, which was very very dangerous for me. I could not watch the game on TV. That was something I did not enjoy. Thankfully I have gotten over it. I took the help of people and I have gotten over it“, said Ashwin to Mumbai Mirror.
Ashwin played over 111 ODI” s adding 150 wickets to his bag. Even in T20I”s, he has another 52 scalps in 46 games. In the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, Ashwin played a vital role in TamilNadu”s success. He said that he is longing to be back in Indian colors.
“I do want to represent India, I have been doing it over the years, successfully at it. If you look at my T20 numbers and ODI numbers, they are no mean achievements. The hopes are still alive, but I take a different approach from others“, he concluded .
Ashwin and his recent record
Knowing for breaking records, he recently surpassed the feat for the fastest to 350 scalps of Muralitharan.
On the other hand, Ashwin will be representing Delhi Capitals this season in the IPL. After a couple of seasons with KXIP as a skipper, the management finally decided to trade him and hence the result.
Will the selectors consider his recent statements? Can we see Ashwin in blue again? Only time will tell
