Asia Cup 2023: Injury Scare For Naseem Shah After His Full-Length Dive Against Bangladesh

At present, Pakistan and Bangladesh are competing in the inaugural match of the Super Fours phase during the Asia Cup 2023. In the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 in Lahore, Pakistan and Bangladesh are currently engaged in the seventh match. Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and decided to bat first. Naseem Shah claimed the significant wicket of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who had previously scored a century against Afghanistan with the very first ball.

Unfortunately, an unfortunate incident unfolded during the second delivery of the seventh over, delivered by Shaheen Afridi. Naseem made an attempt to prevent a boundary at fine leg by sliding to his left. However, his body made contact with the boundary rope as he stopped the ball, resulting in a boundary being awarded to Bangladesh.

What raised concerns among Pakistani fans was the sight of Naseem lying motionless on the ground for a brief period. The team’s physio quickly rushed to attend to the talented fast bowler. The 20-year-old player was eventually escorted off the playing field. Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris entered the field as a replacement fielder, while Haris Rauf took over for Naseem from the opposite end.

Naseem Shah is back in action, resuming his bowling against Bangladesh

Naseem Shah’s injury status was closely observed following his removal from the field. Pakistan supporters must have been anxiously awaiting news, especially with a crucial match against their arch-rivals India scheduled for Sunday, September 10. Fortunately, to their joy, the talented fast bowler made a comeback to bowl the 18th over in the innings. Bangladesh faced a challenging situation with their initial four wickets falling for a mere 47 runs.

Litton Das, who had recovered from illness to participate in this match, was caught out for 16 by Shaheen, while Rauf dismissed Mohammad Naim and Towhid Hridoy. The responsibility now rests on the shoulders of Bangladesh’s seasoned duo, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim, to guide their team to a competitive score.

The pitch at the Gaddafi Stadium has proven favourable for batting, instilling confidence in Pakistan that they can pursue any target set before them.
