Asia Cup 2023: [WATCH] Shaheen Afridi’s Gesture Brings A Smile To Jasprit Bumrah’s Face

Pakistan pace bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi‘s off-field action for Jasprit Bumrah shone brighter than his bowling display against India in the Asia Cup. Jasprit Bumrah was eager to face Babar Azam’s team as Team India confronted Pakistan for the second time in the Asia Cup 2023 on Sunday.

However, Bumrah’s comeback with the ball in the India-Pakistan clash was delayed once again due to Sri Lanka’s unpredictable weather. Following the rain-induced interruption in Colombo, Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi provided a heartwarming moment that brought a smile to Bumrah’s face.

Afridi exhibited remarkable sportsmanship after the Super 4 match was pushed to a reserve day due to the rain.

Afridi’s action towards Bumrah is the hot topic of conversation during the Asia Cup

In a video posted by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) official Twitter account, Shaheen Afridi was captured extending his congratulations to Bumrah on becoming a father. The renowned fast bowler Bumrah and his wife Sanjana Ganesan welcomed their baby boy into the world last week. In this memorable exchange between them, Pakistan’s star pacer Afridi presented a special gift to the Indian fast bowler, who had tied the knot with well-known sports presenter Sanjana in 2021.

Shaheen Shah Afridi’s unique message

Afridi wished to see Bumrah’s son lead India’s pace attack just like his father. “May Allah bless him always and I wish he will become a new Bumrah one day,” Afridi said. Afridi’s heartwarming act towards new dad Bumrah brought a big smile and became an internet sensation.

Jasprit Bumrah and Sanjana unveiled their son’s name

In a post Bumrah shared, the star cricketer and his wife disclosed their first child’s name. “Our little family has grown & our hearts are fuller than we could ever imagine!”

“This morning we welcomed our little boy, Angad Jasprit Bumrah into the world. We are over the moon and can’t wait for everything this new chapter of our lives brings with it,” Bumrah wrote on his Instagram.

Experienced fast bowler Bumrah had come back to Mumbai for a special event during the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. He was not included in India’s playing XI for the group game against Nepal at the Asia Cup.

Subsequently, he reconnected with the team for India’s highly anticipated clash with Pakistan in the Super 4 stage of the tournament.
