The Chennai Super Kings chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to the worst possible starts as the side was reduced to 36 for 3 inside the powerplay. Shane Watson was the first to be dismissed as early s the third delivery of the innings. Natarajan then cleaned up Ambati Rayudu (8) who was making a comeback after missing two matches due to injury. However, Faf Du Plessis’ wicket delivered a telling blow to CSK.

Soon after Faf du Plessis wicket in the last over of the batting powerplay, CSK lost another wicket, that of Kedar Jadhav in the ninth over of the CSK chase.

Du Plessis fell in the same over as over in which Rayudu was dismissed. Agility in the field from Priyam Garg saw him give the ball to Jonny Barstow who was in motion when he removed the bails off in a flash.

Faf du Plessis was playing well on 22 and looked set to take CSK home before an error in judgment of a single cost him his wicket. You can watch the video below.

Meanwhile, earlier in the game, CSK skipper MS Dhoni became the most capped IPL player with 194 matches when he came out on the field against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Raina sits seconds in the list with 193 games while Rohit Sharma (192) and Dinesh Karthik (185) occupy the third and the fourth place.

Ambati Rayudu and Dwayne Bravo missed the first three games due to injury. Rayudu missed CSK’s next two after a match-winning performance in the IPL 2020 opener.

In the 12 matches played between the two teams, CSK has the wood over the Orange Army. The Men in Yellow have nine games while SRH has won just three. Moreover, in the last five meetings between the two sides, CSK has won four games.

CSK are currently at the bottom of the points table after losing two games back to back before their six-day gap in the tournament.
