The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday announced its squad for the T20I series against New Zealand at home. The series comprises five T20Is, which will take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. It will be New Zealand’s first bilateral tour of Bangladesh since 2003.

Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das are back in the Bangladesh team. Mushfiqur Rahim opted out of the Zimbabwe tour to be with his ailing parents. He was forced to miss the Australia series due to Cricket Australia’s 10-day quarantine requirement. Liton Das was ruled out due to a thigh injury.

“Naturally when you get back two of your best batsmen it is quite relieving and I am sure they will make the most of it considering it’s their last competitive cricket ahead of World Cup,” Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz.

Aminul Islam Biplob lost his father recently and hence opted out of the Australia series. He has also been included in the Bangladesh squad.

“We have included Aminul as he gives us some variety and we are looking to see how he can fit in the playing XI,” said Minhajul.

Left out of the 17-man squad that took on Australia is a top-order bat and a back-up keep Mohammad Mithun, who incidentally last played a T20I for Bangladesh on their New Zealand tour at the start of the year.

Bangladesh Squad for New Zealand series: Mahmudullah (Captain), Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Soumya Sarkar, Litton Kumer Das, Musaddek Hossain Saikat, Afif Hossain, Naim Sheikh, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Shamim Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shaif Uddin, Shoriful Islam, Taijul Islam, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Aminul Islam Biplob, Nasum Ahmed
