Team India cricketer Shubman Gill is having a dream run at the international level this year. He continued his purple patch, slamming his maiden T20I hundred in the third match against New Zealand on Wednesday, February 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The right-handed batter powered India to 234 runs, at the end of the first innings.
Shubman Gill opened the innings along with Ishan Kishan, as Hardik Pandya chose to bat first after winning the toss. The left-hander was dismissed early in the innings. Shubman Gill took up the responsibility, taking on the New Zealand bowlers. He stitched up an 80-80-run stand with Rahul Tripathi, who chipped in with a brilliant 44. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya also played fine knocks. However, Shubman Gill’s knock stole the show.
The opener slammed twelve boundaries and seven sixes, scoring 126 runs at a strike rate of 200. He did not have a great start to his T20I career so far, but his century might prove to be the turning point. In his six-match T20I career so far, Shubman has scored 202 runs, at an average of 40.40, and a strike rate of 165.57. With his 126-runs innings, he knocked up the highest Individual T20 score by an Indian.

Gill's shot making and demeanor is Rohit Sharma'ish. And his grit & acceleration as the innings progresses is Kohli'ish.
Punjab might have just combined the best of Mumbai and Delhi.— Abijit Ganguly (@AbijitG) February 1, 2023

New Zealand lose half of the team inside powerplay
Chasing 235 runs, New Zealand got off to a disaster losing Finn Allen in the first over. Devon Conway also walked back into the hut adding just one run to the total. Following his dismissal, the visitors suffered a collapse. They were reduced to 21/5 in around five overs. Mark Chapman, Glenn Philips and Michael Bracewell are back in the pavilion. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh has been the pick of the bowlers so far, with two wickets each.
