The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) together have come out of the full schedule of England’s upcoming tour of India. The series will see both teams lock horns in four Tests, 5 T20Is, and three ODIs.
The much-awaited series will kickstart with a 4-match Test series for Anthony de Mello Trophy, the first of which will be played in Chennai from the 5th of February. Chennai will also host the second Test while the newly built Sardar Patel Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the remaining two Test matches.
England to play 5 T20Is, 4 Tests, and 3 ODIs
The largest cricket stadium in the world – Motera boasts a seating capacity of 110,000. It will host India’s second Day-Night Test match at home in the wake of the huge success of India’s first-ever pink-ball Test that was played in Kolkata last year.

Ahmedabad is expected to turn pink when it hosts the third Test on 24th of February under lights. The iconic Test will be followed by the 5-match T20I series, which will also be held in Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, the carnival will shift to Pune for the three-match ODI series which will culminate the tour.
BCCI has opted to pick only three venues keeping in line with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. BCCI secretary Jay Shah thanked ECB for working tirelessly to turn this series into a reality. Incidentally, this will be India’s first series at home ever since COVID-19 broke out.
“The BCCI prioritises health and safety of both teams and will leave no stone unturned to make sure that the tour is held adhering to all safety protocols agreed by the BCCI and ECB medical teams.
