The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially invited applications for the vacant post of All-India Senior Men Selection Committee member on Thursday, June 22. The post has been vacant since February this year after Chetan Sharma resigned as the Chief Selector.
Chetan Sharma’s resignation came amid a controversial sting operation conducted by Zee News, earlier this year. He revealed selection details in the sting operation. Since his resignation, the selection committee headed by Shiv Sundar Das. The members of the committee are Subroto Banerjee, Salil Ankola and Shridharan Sharatha.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India wrote on Twitter, “BCCI invites applications for one member of Men’s Selection Committee post.” The deadline to submit applications for the vacant post is June 30, 2023. The applicants will be screened and shortlisted, following which there will be a personal interview with the shortlisted candidates.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCC)) laid down the Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills. The criteria are as follows:
- Should have played a minimum of a) 7 (Seven) Test Matches; OR b) 30 (Thirty) First Class Matches; OR c) 10 (Ten) One Day International Matches and 20 (Twenty) First Class matches.
- Should have retired from the game at least 5 years previously.
- No person who has been a member of any Cricket Committee (as defined in the Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations of BCCI) for a total of five years shall be eligible to be a member of the Men’s Selection Committee.
BCCI likely to announce squad for WI tour on June 27
The India Selection Committee is likely to announce the Indian squad for the West Indies tour by June 27. Team India will be playing an all-format tour against the West Indies. The tour comprises of two-Test matches, three ODIs and a five-match T20I series. Senior players are expected to be given rest for some part of the tour. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if the selectors stick with the experienced Indian batting line-up in Tests, or give an opportunity to youngsters.
