BCCI names two new captains for the India A squad that will play against New Zealand A

The Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) in an unusual manner has announced the name of multiple captains for the one-dayers against New Zealand A that will be played in Vizag starting from October 6.

The Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer who has been in good form of late will lead the side in the first three matches of the series while the young wicket-keeper-batsman from Delhi Rishabh Pant will captain the side in the rest of the two matches. BCCI has also announced a 12-member Board President XI squad for the practice game against New Zealand ahead of their ODI series.

The New Zealand A side will feature in a five-match ODI series against the India A side after the ongoing four-day match in Vijayawada. Iyer will captain the Board President XI for the two practice games against the New Zealand side which will take place in Mumbai ahead of their three-match ODI series against India. Brabourne stadium will host the two practice games scheduled to take place on October 17 and 19.

The India A team will see some major changes in the batting line-up as Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, and Shreyas Iyer will not feature in the last two matches while they will be replaced by the likes of Abhimanyu Easwaran, Prashant Chopra, and Ankit Bawne. However, there were no changes made in the bowling attack.

India A squad for first three one-dayers: Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, Shreyas Iyer (c), Deepak Hooda, Shubman Gill, Shreevats Goswami (wk), Shahbaz Nadeem, Karn Sharma, Vijay Shankar, Shardul Thakur, Siddarth Kaul, Mohammed Siraj, Basil Thampi.

For the last two one-dayers: AR Easwaran, Prashant Chopra, Ankit Bawne, Shubman Gill, Baba Aparajith, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Shahbaz Nadeem, Karn Sharma, Vijay Shankar, Shardul Thakur, Siddarth Kaul, Mohammed Siraj, Basil Thampi.

Board President XI squad: Prithvi Shaw, Shivam Chaudhary, Shreyas Iyer (c), Karun Nair, Gurkeerat Mann, Milind Kumar, Rishabh Pant (wk), Shahbaz Nadeem, Deepak Chahar, Dhawal Kulkarni, Jaydev Unadkat, Avesh Khan.
