Former India player and commentator Aakash Chopra has picked Ben Stokes as the No.1 all-rounder in world cricket at the moment across all formats. His statement came after Stokes’s sublime 170 in the ongoing 2nd Test between England and West Indies.

Ben Stokes put up a 260 run partnership with Dom Sibley taking England past 400. He played his longest innings in Test cricket in terms of balls faced. His 170 runs came off 356 balls. This is not the first Ben Stokes had scored a match-saving innings for England. previously even during the 2019 World Cup final, Stokes scored a match-saving 84.

Aakash Chopra feels that at this point in time there isn’t anyone as good all-rounder like Ben Stokes across three formats. His average of 43 in tests and 59 in ODIs in the last two years speaks for itself.

“At this point of time, there is no doubt in my mind that Ben Stokes is the number one all-rounder in the world across three formats. He has an average of 43 in tests, 59 in ODIs over the last two years,” Aakash Chopra said on his Youtube Channel.

Other than his batting, Aakash Chopra also lauded Ben Stokes for his bowling performance. He has pretty good bowling average across all three formats. Stokes’s all-round show with the bat and ball is what makes him the number one all-rounder in world cricket at the moment.

“He has a good bowling average across all three formats as well, there is no doubt that Stokes is the number one all-rounder in the world across all formats,” he added/ 

Meanwhile, Ben Stokes returned to action after nearly 6 months. He started off playing in this pandemic by captaining the England side in the first Test where West Indies emerged victorious against England.

In the ongoing second Test, the home side are perfectly poised with a massive first innings score. However, the rain gods have affected the third day’s play with West Indies reeling at 31 for one.
