Betting Racket In Andhra Pradesh Involving PSL Busted

The police have busted a betting racket in Andhra Pradesh that was involved in making bets on the matches going on in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). On June 13, Sunday, the police took over the site and all the communication devices as well.

Four people were arrested and they were later identified as K. Ravi Kumar (29) of Akkayyapalem, Dhanunjaya (34) of Sujatha Nagar, M. Sivaji (29) of Srikakulam and V. Rambabu (43) of MVP Colony. The police officials also stated that the main culprit behind the racket is absconding at the moment. His name is Ch. Srinivas, alias cable Srinu.

“The gang had communication set-up box equipment, which had 30 mobile phones, to communicate with 30 persons at a time. The gang used an app to communicate ratings of the match. Moreover, they also cheated the punters by announcing wrong ratings on the matches,” the police said.

As per information available on hand at the moment is that the police managed to bust the entire operation consisting of 29 mobile phones, headsets, two television sets, two laptops, one tab, five account books, one router, three smartphones, and INR 1590 in cash.

The CI Ravi Kumar stated that the main culprit CH Srinivasu was organizing the operation in Panorama Hills, Vishakhapatnam. Although the Palem police were quick, CH Srinivasu had already escaped according to him.

“City Task Force and PM Palem Police conducted joint operation and arrested four persons on information of cricket betting in Panorama Hills, Visakhapatnam. One CH Srinivasu alias Cable is organizing betting in Panorama Hills, Visakhapatnam. Pakistan Super League T20 started from June 9. The accused were betting on the match between Gladiators vs Peshawar teams. PM Palem and the task force police went and arrested the four accused, while residents of CH Srinivasu escaped,” he said.
