Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg has made a big prediction about India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara. Pujara will be one key batsman alongside Virat Kohli. The Indian right-hander is coming off a successful series against Australia scoring 271 runs in the four-Test match series. After returning back from Australia, he spoke to ESPN Cricinfo, on the runs that he accumulated in the series and how did he not pay attention to the criticism that he copped up for scoring slowly in the series.

Meanwhile, Brad Hogg making a huge prediction on Pujara has guessed the number of balls he will face in the England series. The Indian number three, faced 928 balls in the recently concluded series against Australia. Hogg rather jokingly said that Pujara might face as many as 997 balls against England in the four-match series.

Cheteshwar Pujara Will Play 997 Balls Against England: Brad Hogg

“(Cheteshwar) Pujara, I reckon, is going to play some 997 balls for the series in these four Test matches. Dig in, and watch him block away,” Hogg said on his Youtube channel.

Before his final innings at The Gabba, Cheteshwar Pujara had already batted for 717 balls in the series and scored 215 runs. Adding 56 more, he ended up with 271 runs for the series. He got off the mark on the 22nd ball he faced in the Gabba Test and faced 211 balls for his 56.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli is also eyeing a major record in the first Test against England. He is just 14 short of overtaking former West Indian skipper Clive Llyod in the list of most runs scored by a Test captain. Virat has had a good run in the last two-Test series against England. After Kohli’s forgetful England tour of 2014, he has scored over 1000 runs in the next two series against the opposition. Virat Kohli scored 655 runs in the 2016-17 series followed by 593 runs in the 2018 series.
