Bravo Sam Curran wreaks havoc against Afghanistan today at Perth. He picked up a five-wicket haul and conceded only ten runs in his 3.4 overs. This is his maiden five-wicket haul for him in this format.

He dismissed Ibrahim Zadran, Usman Ghani, Azmatullah, Rashid Khan and Mujeeb ur Rahman.

This year he has already picked up 17 wickets at an economy of 7.78.

There were criticisms around the English end over bowling after the completion of the previous World Cup edition. Since the Pakistan tour, England has found a new hero in Sam Curran for the same.

During the tour of Pakistan, Curran picked 7 wickets at an economy of less than 7.50. He was the highest wicket-taker for England in the series against Australia picking up five wickets of two games. As well as in the warm-up match against Pakistan, he picked up one wicket and finished the game for the team, scoring 33 of 14, which includes two four and three maximums.

Let’s look at some of the Twitter reactions to Curran’s exceptional outing with the ball:

His rise as a death bowler will reduce pressure and dependency on Chris Jordan who has been consistency has raised questions in the past few years. Bowlers like Woakes who are exceptional at the top with the new ball have often leaked runs at the back.

If Curran performs for England with both bat and ball, he will soon become a force to reckon with in world cricket Bravo.

England won the toss and opted to bowl. Though Afghanistan wanted to bat first but was dismissed for 112 runs and Ibrahim Zadran top scored for them scoring 32 runs. Besides Curran, both Ben Stokes and Mark Wood picked two wickets each, and Chris Woakes picked one.
