The 2022 T20 World Cup match between Afghanistan and England that took place on Saturday, October 22 at the Perth Stadium witnessed some breathtaking moments. England players Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler pulled off brilliant fielding performances. Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi too took a screamer during the game.

Chasing 113 runs, England lost three wickets for 76 runs in the first 10 overs. Both the openers, Jos Buttler, Alex Hales, and Ben Stokes were already back in the hut. Soon, Dawid Malan also joined the trio in the pavilion. In the fourteenth over, Mujeeb Ur Rahman bowled a flat ball outside off stump.

Malan tried to throw his bat at the ball and cut it for a boundary. However, he played the shot in the air, which flow near Mohammed Nabi, who dived to pluck the ball out of thin air. Malan managed 18 runs from 30 deliveries during his stay at the crease.

Not a good start, but we tried our best: Mohammad Nabi

Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi was disappointed with the team’s loss against England. However, he expressed that they tried their best to play good cricket. Nabi asserted that the lack of runs on the board in the first innings hampered their chances to win the match.

It’s not a good start, but we tried our best to play good cricket. Everyone knows England is one of the best teams. The pitch was more suitable for England. We didn’t put a good total on the board. They took 2-3 good catches. We thought 140-150 would be a good total fight but we couldn’t get there. If we put in a good total, we have quality spinners. I, Rash, and Mujeeb have the experience of playing in the BBL. We’ll look to learn from our mistakes in the next game,” said Mohammad Nabi post-match as quoted by Cricbuzz.
