The Chennai Super Kings defeated the 2023 champion Gujarat Titans on Monday night in Ahmedabad to win the Indian Premier League title, their fifth in league history.

Chasing a 171-run total in 15 overs, CSK won the game on the very last ball when Ravindra Jadeja hit a four when they needed one.
Ben Stokes missed the team’s first few games due to an injury, and Deepak Chahar also suffered an injury in the early going of this season, which left CSK with a sizable absence from the lineup.
But MS Dhoni’s team defied the odds to place second on the points table. Dwayne Bravo was also instrumental in collaborating with some of the young pacers, such as Matheesha Pathirana and Tushar Deshpande.
With his death bowling performances throughout the season, the latter made an impression.

The CSK captain, MS Dhoni, convinced Bravo to rejoin the team after the West Indian had left the IPL last year, according to a recent admission by Bravo.
“Where do I start?”, Bravo wrote on his Instagram page, “It was a sad day when I announced my retirement from IPL cricket a year ago, but I was also thankful for a fruitful IPL career”.
As luck would have it, the @chennaiipl captain @mahi7781 and head coach Stephen Fleming @stephen fleming called me and extended an invitation for me to join the coaching staff.
“I was certain that this was how I wanted to move my new cricketing career forward. I’ve always pictured myself as a coach for one of the greatest cricket teams in IPL history, one day sharing what I can only refer to as my God-given skills as a player”.
Bravo won three championships with CSK in 2011, 2018, and 2021. His first championship as a head coach came in 2023.
