Wasim Akram is one of the greatest pacers of all time in the history of international cricket. Wasim Akram has more than 800 international Wickets. Akram was a lethal left arm pacer famous for his reverse swing. Brett Lee recently revealed an interesting incident involving Wasim Akram and Jacques Kallis.
Wasim Akram was involved with Kolkata Knight Riders as a coach 10 years back. Brett Lee and Jacques Kallis were playing for Kolkata Knight Riders during that time. Brett Lee revealed how all the bowlers were trying hard to dismiss Kallis in the nets, but they failed in it. Brett Lee then asked for advice from Wasim Akram.
Brett Lee on his Youtube Channel said: “I am trying really hard to get Kallis out but this guy is going bang bang (Lee gestures with his hand how Kallis is middling everything with the full bat face). I could not get Jacques Kallis out. All our bowlers were struggling with a brand new ball on a brand new wicket, and Kallis was making it look so easy.”
Wasim Akram gave him advice to try and shape the ball away and then change the position of the seam there. However, the trick didn’t work for Brett Lee. Now Wasim Akram decided to take the responsibility of bowling to Kallis in nets and showed he still has it in him.
“You are a genius”- Brett Lee after Wasim Akram dismissed Kallis
Brett Lee revealed that Wasim Akram told him that he would take four back in and one away from Kallis to deceive him. Wasim didn’t wear the spike shoes while bowling. Lee revealed that initially Kallis defended the balls while facing Akram in the nets. But soon one ball of Akram got the better of Kallis in the nets.
Brett Lee said: “The seam is now a fraction straighter and he swings the ball back in. Once again, same result, Jacques Kallis flat bats (it). As he walked back, he winked at me, and said ‘watch this!’ He turned the ball over and did that with the seam position (Lee shows how the seam is now pointing towards first slip), and took one away straight. Nick and gone”. Lee later called Wasim Akram a genius.
