Former Australian cricketer Brett Lee heaped praise on Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Umran Malik. He compared the youngster to Pakistan’s legendary pacer Waqar Younis.

Umran Malik impressed the experts and the fans with his fierce pace in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. He has the ability to clock 150kmphs consistently, which troubled the batters in the tournament. Umran won the ‘fastest delivery of the match’ award 14 straight times in the just-concluded IPL season.

In fourteen IPL matches, the Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer took twenty-two wickets, at an average of 20.18. His wickets tally includes a five and a four-wicket haul each. His brilliant performance earned the young pacer an India call-up for the South Africa series.

Speaking to ANI, Brett Lee expressed that he is a fan of Umran Malik. He added that the pacer reminds him of former Pakistan great Waqar Younis. Lee said,

“I am a big fan. I think Umran Malik has got a lot of pace to burn. He is a competitor, a top guy, who runs in like a lot of fast bowlers in the past. Waqar Younis is the person who comes to mind.”

Virat Kohli just needs some time out: Brett Lee

The former Australian cricketer also spoke about Virat Kohli’s lean patch. The Indian cricketer hasn’t been able to perform up to the expectations in the last couple of years. In the Indian Premier League 2022 season, Kohli scored 341 runs at an average of 22.73 and at a strike rate of 115.98.

Brett Lee expressed that Virat Kohli needs to get some time off the field and rest. The Indian cricketer has been rested for the upcoming India vs South Africa series and will make a comeback for the England tour.

“I am a massive Kohli fan like a lot of people in the world. I just hope that he really gets his opportunity. He just needs some time out. Spend some time with his family, get reset and hopefully, we can see him scoring some hundreds,” expressed Brett Lee.
