Suryakumar Yadav was greatly unlucky not to be included in team India’s white-ball squad for Australia. Batting at number 3, Suryakumar was exceptional for Mumbai Indians and played an instrumental role in helping them win their 5th IPL title. Lately, former legendary batsman, Brian Lara asserted that there’s no reason why Suryakumar can’t be part of team India.

Lara is thoroughly impressed with the way Suryakumar batted throughout IPL 2020 and heaped praises for him. He believes that the right-hander has a sound technique and also can contribute to his side under pressure. Lara tagged Suryakumar as a class player that holds that he can be successful if he plays for team India.

Suryakumar Yadav Is A Class Player- Brian Lara

“Just remember, your No. 3 batsmen, other than the openers, the No. 3 batsman in any cricket team is normally your best player, your most reliable player. And for me, he has been that for Mumbai Indians and I see no reason why, looking at the squad, he can be a part of it”, Lara said on Star Sports’ show Cricket Connected.’

“Yeah, definitely. He’s a class player. I don’t just look at players that score runs, I look at their technique, capabilities under pressure, positions that they’re batting and for me, Suryakumar Yadav has done such a wonderful job for Mumbai. He comes to bat on the back of Rohit Sharma, and Quinton de Kock and every time, they are under pressure, he comes in at No. 3”, Lara further said on Suryakumar Yadav.

Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav scored a total of 480 runs at an average of 40 and strike rate of 145 in IPL 2020. Recently he had admitted that he was expecting his maiden India call up but was disappointed when he wasn’t picked in the Indian squad for Australia.

“I was disappointed when the Indian team for the Australian tour was announced because I was expecting to be picked as I was batting well and scoring runs. I have been scoring a lot of runs in white-ball cricket over the last 2 years, not just in the IPL alone,” Suryakumar said to Sports Tak.
