The England cricket team defeated India by 7 wickets in the fifth test match at Edgbaston. It was a historical test win for England because it is their highest ever successful run chase in the cricket history of the England test team. England leveled the 5 match series as 2-2. It was a series full of thrilling battles.

England’s Barmy Army is one of the most popular social media accounts in cricket World. They are famous for trolling the opposition team and players in a funny banter. They posted a pic of Jonny Bairstow raising his bat with ” England win series 1-0″ written on the pic.

Ideally, the series ended as 2-2. Several Indian fans pointed out this mistake of the Barmy Army. Former Indian leg spinner Amit Mishra was quick to react to this misleading tweet of Barmy Army . Amit Mishra in his tweet wrote, “Haash! British and their habit of distorting history for their own advantage.”

In the end, none of the teams could claim the series win. It was such a hard bought battle. England fans are very much impressed with the performance of their team in this test summer where they defeated New Zealand by 3-0 and now won the last test against India.

“It is great fun at the moment “- Jonny Bairstow on his purple patch

While chasing the target of 378, England was struggling at 110 for 3. But Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow continued to play with a positive approach. Both of them added 259 runs partnership for the fourth wicket and took England over the finishing line. Root scored 142 runs in 173 balls, while Bairstow scored 114 runs in 145 balls in the run chase.

Jonny Bairstow was awarded man of the match for twin Centuries. Bairstow in the post match presentation said: “It is great fun at the moment. The last month has been fantastic for the lads and the smiles on their faces when everyone does well is a massive part of it. I am stripping it back to the basics. The last few years have been tough on me but the last few months have been fantastic.”
