Chennai Super Kings were one of the most active during the IPL 2021 auction as they were keen to strengthen their squad. Incidentally, they had an awful season in the UAE – their worst in the history of the tournament finishing seventh in the points table.
This time around, the management has roped in some impact cricketers in a bit to better their performance. The return of senior batsman and Chennai Super Kings’ highest run-scorer Suresh Raina will strengthen their batting. The addition of Moeen Ali and Krishnappa Gowtham will also add value to MS Dhoni & Co.
Chennai Super Kings to start camp on March 11
Meanwhile, as BCCI dwells over to finalise the venues for IPL considering the coronavirus pandemic, Chennai Super Kings are all set to commence their camp in Chennai from March 11. All Indian cricketers (excluding Team India players who have national commitments) including skipper MS Dhoni are expected to join the training camp at the MA Chidambaram Stadium from the first day.
“Yes, we are expecting all players to start coming in batches. Captain MS Dhoni will be available and attending the camp from day one. Players availability should not be an issue. We are very hopeful that the camp will successfully begin and we will strictly follow the same bio-bubble protocol and no additional measures are required to be taken at this stage. We have put in place stringent health and safety protocols for the camp and all the participants will follow mandatory testing,’ the top Chennai Super Kings official confirmed to Inside Sport.

Meanwhile, BCCI has categorically informed the franchisees it will be the responsibility of all the franchisees to strictly follow the guidelines and protocol during the camp and any violation will be accordingly dealt with.
As of now, BCCI are planning to host IPL 2021 in five-six venues under a bio-secure environment while Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium being the front-runner to host the playoffs.
