Team India Likely To Rest Senior Cricketers For The ODI Series – Reports

Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar are likely to be rested for the 3 match ODI series against England. Due to the exhaustion of the bio-secure bubble all three players might be released during the ODI series against England.

A few days back fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was also released by the BCCI due to personal reasons and will not be playing the final Test match against England. As per a report, out of the ten cricketers staying in the bio-secure bubble since the start of IPL 2020 with a five-day break in between, India contrived to rest eight of them.

After the announcement of India’s T20I squad leaving out Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar, the other eight players could opt for breaks before joining their respective franchises for the upcoming IPL 2021. The team management and BCCI are trying to balance the workload of all the players as the bio-bubble environment can mentally be very challenging.

Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar Likely To Be Rested

It is believed that the BCCI even gave an option to the players to rest for the T20I series which they refused. Now, Rohit Sharma, Washington Sundar and Rishabh Pant are likely to get a much-needed break before they again step into the bio-bubble for IPL 2021. Pant, Sundar and Rohit in the final 2 Tests played a key role in India’s Test series win in Australia.

Before that, all the three players were in a bubble during IPL 2020 in the UAE which lasted for close to 2 months. Now, as per recent developments, the selectors could probably rest Rohit Sharma, Washington Sundar, and Rishabh Pant from the three-match ODI series in Pune against England.

Meanwhile, the Indian team players will be playing non-stop cricket in 2021. After the conclusion of the England tour, the team is likely to play the world Test championship final in June. Soon after they will play a 5 match Test series in England from July-August which will all be in a bio-secure bubble because of the COVID-19 scare.
