‘He’s Been The Pinnacle Of The Game’, Glenn Maxwell Looking Forward To Play Under Virat Kohli At RCB In IPL 2021

Glenn Maxwell cannot wait for the opportunity to play under the leadership of Virat Kohli in the IPL. The maverick Australian all-rounder was acquired by RCB for a hefty price of Rs. 14.25 crores in the IPL auction. Maxwell is excited to play at RCB and learn a thing or two from the best in the world Virat Kohli.

Maxwell has always admired Kohli’s game and hailed him as the absolute best all-format batsman in the IPL. Now ahead of his first IPL season with the RCB, Maxwell showered praises for Kohli. Maxwell believes that Kohli is the pinnacle of the game who dominates in all 3 formats of the game. He is now keen to watch Kohli closely at RCB right from his batting to his training sessions.

“It [RCB stint] is going to be next level. He’s been the pinnacle of the game for a while as a multi-format player from Tests all the way to T20s”, Maxwell told AAP.

“He’s been able to adapt his game, dominate for a long period of time and deal with the Indian pressure of being their captain and their best player. I am looking forward to watching him go about his work, not just in games but in training, and hopefully tapping into some of the leadership stuff and try and learn off him”, he added.

Meanwhile, Kohli too has always lauded match-winner Glenn Maxwell as he can single-handedly with a T20 match. The Indian and RCB captain had also complimented Maxwell for talking about his depression and deciding to take a short break from the game.

“He’s been a solid backer of my stance. In a way he probably understood a lot of the things that I was going through a lot of expectation and pressure, which I’m sure he can relate to”, Maxwell said.

Furthermore, RCB will be hoping that Maxwell is at his best in IPL 2021 and gives much-needed support to Ab de Villiers and Kohli in the batting line-up.
