Cheteshwar Pujara & Ravindra Jadeja rise in the ICC Rankings

It was good news for Indian cricket fans as Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja climbed up the latest ICC test rankings announced today. Pujara who made 143 in the second test against Sri Lanka rise was important for India’s big total.

Steve Smith is currently the top batsman after a captain’s knock in the first Ashes test at Brisbane. He made 126 on a tough wicket and helped Australia to bail the team out of trouble. His knock helped him to be the man of the match.

India’s solid number 3 Pujara continued his brilliant form with 143 in the second test at Nagpur. He made 52 in the first innings at Kolkata.  England’s captain Joe Root slipped one place down to 3rd. In the first test against Australia, Joe Root made 15 and 51.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson also slipped to fourth in batsmen rankings. He can climb up the rankings with good performances in test series against West Indies. India’s Captain Virat Kohli who scored 213 in the second test match against Sri Lanka remains at number 5.

Australia’s David Warner scored 26 and 82 not out in the first Ashes test match at Brisbane. He remains at number 6. Hashim Amla also remains at number 7.

Pakistan’s Azhar Ali climbed one place up to number 8th. India’s KL Rahul slipped down one place up to number 9th. He could score 7 runs in the first innings of the second test at Nagpur.

South Africa Dean Elgar climbs to number 10th in the rankings. He was number 11 after the first test match between India and Sri Lanka.

In the bowlers ranking, England’s James Anderson remains at number 1. He took 2 wickets in the first test match against Australia at Brisbane. Ravindra Jadeja jumps to number 2 with good performances in a second test match against Sri Lanka at Nagpur by taking 5 wickets.

South Africa’s young bowler Kagiso Rabadda has slipped one place down to number 3 with 876 points. Ravichandran Ashwin who became the fastest to take 300 wickets in test matches increases his position at number 4.

Rangana Hearth occupies the number 5th position in test rankings. He took only 1 wicket in the second test match against India. Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon maintain their 6th, 7th positions. Both of them played key roles in helping Australia win the first Ashes test match.

South Africa’s speedster Dale Steyn occupies the 8th place. New Zealand Neil Wagner also maintain his 9th position.

Australia’s speedster Mitchell Starc bowled with great pace and has come back into the top 10 bowlers rankings. Here we look at the latest ICC test bowlers, batsmen rankings.
